Ride Groups Riding This Year
The Western PA Bicycle Club provides Insurance and legal/financial structure to these ride Groups:
- Team Decaf – Riding out of Highland Park in Pittsburgh’s East End, Team Decaf officially starts their season the first Tuesday in April. The ride leadership group for Team Decaf is meeting in March, and sounds like they will again have 1 route each week with multiple groups (A, B, C) on the road.
- Pittsburgh Randonneurs – Pittsburgh Randonneurs are starting their season Sunday March 8 (First day of Daylight Savings Time). Randonneurs are also riding that day as part of the 57th Annual International Women’s Day Together We Ride
- Women@Work Bicycle Club – We welcome Women@Work Bicycling Club offering their participatory rides under our club insurance policy in 2026. W@W has already started riding for the season. Led by Robin Woods, the Women@Work rides welcome new well as veteran riders.
The WPaBC Cecil ride group has no current plans to ride in 2026. Kris Moser has retired from leading the group. Thanks Kris for all your work over the years.
Ride Insurance Update
A reminder, the main reason the WPaBC exists is so that our members are covered under our League of American Bicyclists ride insurance policy. For 2026, the policy costs the club $10.05 per member. That is where the majority of the $20 annual club membership goes. The club ride insurance policy covers first club members and first time guests. Members sign a liability waiver when they join the club.
We Shifted to a New Membership Management Website at the Start of the Year. Here is What Changed
We have a new membership management system. What has changed:
- You must “Recover Password” to log into your account the first time you log in for 2026. You are welcome to reuse your old password if you want.
- We eliminated new 3-year memberships. They were causing strange issues, so they are gone. We now have only new 1-year annual memberships.
- If strange things happens, reach out to wp****@*********ub.com.
We Need 3 People to Volunteer or Be Volunteered to Join the Board. Is that You?
Hey people, we have President Jim Logan and Treasurer Al Gaburri that are happy to keep all the corporate things that needs to be done. Al deals with the club accounts, the ride insurance policy, tax filings, and such. Jim is does annual PA non-profit filing, looks after the website, and coordinates when we have an occasional incident to report to our insurer. We also have Vice President Robin Woods. She is quite active in the ride programs.
It is relatively undemanding to be a board member. We are encouraging active riding members of the club to step up. The board normally has 4 meetings a year. We are getting back to them being mostly in person in a restaurant, lasting under an hour. Some may be video. Basically, we need someone that has fiduciary responsibility to know the barest basics what keeps Please help keep the club viable and volunteer.
