Minutes – Q4 Board Meeting – Sunday 11/23/2025 – 4 PM
Burgher’s Brewing – Millvale, PA
Western Pennsylvania Bicycle Club (WPaBC), Legal name Western Pennsylvania Wheelman, Ltd.
As promised, President Jim bought the first round of drinks
Atttending: Jim Logan, Robin Woods, Al Gaburri, Dan Blumenfeld.
Meeting called to order at 4:05 PM
1. President’s Report (Jim)
- Team Decaf is healthy
- Randonneurs are healthy
- 2025 was probably last year for Cecil Rides?
- In 2026 we welcome Women at Work (W@W) Rides
Note that for perhaps 5 years, WPaBC has been paying the LAB insurance for W@W road rides, to foster the good works that W@W does and help establish the W@W club. In 2026 Robin is bringing the road rides under the WPaBC umbrella, forgoing the need for a second ride insurance policy. W@W will continue its educational activities separately under its own corporate charter.
- Jim’s aerobic health is better after mystery event April – June 2024
- Jim will encourage another Rough Diamond Century by somebody in 2026
2. Treasurers Report (Al)
Club accounts – Total in all is $14,794.40
Checking: $ 1,143.36
CD: $ 11,976.27
PayPal: $ 1,674.77
The club has autorenewals for the LAB membership and for Ride with GPS in the PayPal account. These amount to $350.
3. 2026 Slate
a. President – Jim Logan
b. Vice President – Robin Woods
c. Treasurer – Al Gaburri
d. Board Member – Dan Blumenfeld
e. Board Member – Eric Neumeyer (post meeting nomination)
4. Randonneurs report (Dan)
Attendance: consistent (low, but consistent) over the year.
New policy for 2026: no event fees charged, no formal support (hotel rooms/drop bags) supplied. This means that normal events will not be touching the WPaBC Paypal account any more, nor will expenses other than the website be coming out.
Upcoming changes: I’ll be stepping down as RBA in 2027. Steve Kunsak has volunteered to take on the role, so I’ll be mentoring him in 2026 before the official transition.
5. 2026 Icycle Bicycle – Jim is doing it.
6. 2026 Ride Leader Appreciation Social
Robin proposed Burgher’s Brewing seems just dandy so we should do it here.
Post meeting note: President Jim ran with is and sent out a “Hold the Date” inquiry to ride leaders on 11/25/2025 for the date Sunday 1/11/2026 at 4 PM.
7. Website Revision
President Jim reported he spent the morning transferring content from the legacy website to the Staging website that has the membership system already functional (Thanks Dan for that!).
Next step is for Dan to import the latest member list and status to the staging site from the legacy site. He says he will do it this week.
Then Jim takes the new website live. He will send out a notice that all members will have to do a Password Reset, as we can’t migrate their passwords from the old membership system.
Summarizing why we are doing this:
1) The legacy website had severe issues in the spring, perhaps due to a combination of malware and a runaway backup system.
2) Our existing membership plug-in has the key limitation that members cannot renew until their old membership expires. We migrated to a new plug-in that allows members to renew before their membership expires. That way, it is easier for them to respond to annual reminders.
Once the new website goes live, we will again query for website volunteers.
8. Staying Legal in 2026
- Pay LAB membership and insurance – Al
- File IRS 990 post card – Al
- File new-ish PA annual nonprofit report – Jim
9. Ride of Silence 2026
Robin confirms she will be Ride of Silence Coordinator again for 2026. She reports that the national coordinator is no longer a stickler that all rides happen on the 3rd Wednesday of May at 7 PM. Robin suggests she may move to a Tuesday evening, have an East End ride (pending any sad events that take precedence), and coordinate with Team Decaf. As to coordinating with other organizations, we encouraged Robin to take the lead as Ride of Silence Coordinator.
10. Any other business:
Jim proposed WPaBC pay for Robin’s LAB insurance as an LCI. All voted Yay.
Meeting adjourned at 4:50 PM
Respectfully submitted.
Jim Logan, acting Secretary
