It’s peak riding season with the most daylight of the year. The Cecil group had 15 riders out last night. Team Decaf and been attracting 40 or more. It’s been a month since I’ve ridden with the Sweetwater Thursday ride or the Trek of Robinson ride, but both of them are well attended as well. See our calendar here for these weekly ride postings: https://wpabikeclub.com/events/

The Pittsburgh Randonneurs are having a Heck Weekend with a 200 km, 300 km, and 400 km this month. See these events here: https://pittsburghrandonneurs.com/events/

Redbank Trail Ride – Saturday June 24

The Redbank Trail is one of my favorite rail-trails. The main post is for 93 miles from East Brady to Brookville and back. With lunch at the Courthouse Grill and Pub. This can also be readily cut in half with a turn-around in New Bethlehem. (49 miles). Note that particularly the first half of this route is quite remote (no cell coverage). It has 2 tunnels, so bring a headlight. Services are only in New Bethelem and Brookville. So be prepared to ride 24 mile legs. As a near century, the pace for the outbound ride to Brookville will be brisk – 13 to 15 mp – for the 93 mile group. But this is a rail trail, and you can always ride your own pace. On the return trip, we usually do fragment for especially the last 25 miles.

Relaxed Pace Ride this Saturday – June 10 – Millvale Start

I’ve posted a 22 mile relaxed pace ride on Saturday starting from Millvale Riverfront Park. This is the Wedtopia route I led for a season or so. No drop (meaning we will regroup regularly). Information is here: https://wpabikeclub.com/event/wedtopia-on-saturday/

The Club Board of Directors Needs You for 2024

We need some newer club members that are active in our rides – Team Decaf, Cecil Tuesday, Sweetwater Rides, Pittsburgh Randonneurs. Two choices – either please volunteer to President Jim – [email protected]. Or please volunteer to be part of the search committee to find these members.
